Job Description

We are recruiting for a experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant for a temporary assignment with our Sacramento based client, a respected statewide organization. This role is ideal for a seasoned accounting professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and can step in to provide immediate support to a busy finance team. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in supporting daily accounting operations, preparing financial reports, and ensuring accuracy and compliance across all financial activities. This hands-on role requires strong technical expertise, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with professionalism and precision.

  • 100% Onsite 
  • 40 hours a week (no part time)
  • Pay range: $40-50/hour

 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
  • Support general ledger maintenance, account analysis, and variance review.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting for internal stakeholders.
  • Review and process accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll-related transactions as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and organizational policies, maintaining strong internal controls.
  • Prepare schedules, documentation, and support materials for audits and external reporting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve accounting issues and improve processes.
  • Provide additional accounting support and special project assistance as assigned.

 

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit, association, or multi-entity environment.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and general ledger operations.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across departments.
  • High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and manage workload in a fast-paced environment.
