We are exclusively recruiting for a Senior Accountant to join a stable and growing national organization. Our client is a large employer with a strong, collaborative team and there is opportunity for career advancement as this position will be the successor to the Controller. The Senior Accountant will be a trusted support to the Controller and will be responsible for the development and administration of the accounting systems, practices, controls, and procedures and will provide management with financial reports. Salary: $105,000-$115,000 DOE + annual bonus between $10,000-$25,000 depending on individual and company performance.
The qualified candidate will be a self-starter with experience with budget variance analysis, sales analysis, managing internal audits, advanced MS Excel skills and strong financial reporting skills. CPA is helpful, but not required.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform general accounting functions to support accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Serve as a strategic partner to the Controller.
- Track capital expenditures and maintain fixes asset ledger.
- Daily/Weekly Sales reporting.
- Annual budgeting includes data entry in the budgeting system and running reports for senior management.
- Coordination of vendor managed inventory program with select customers.
- Prepare and submit annual personal property tax returns to various counties.
- Maintain property lease schedules.
- Perform month end close in collaboration with Accounting Manager and Controller.
- Prepare and review financial statements, provide operational metrics and variance analysis, and distribute financial statements internally.
- Prepare monthly customer rebate schedules.
- Prepare monthly inventory reserve schedules.
- Perform cost accounting for product and report monthly results to senior management.
- Prepare annual insurance filings with various brokers.
- Participate in annual audit and provide data requests to audit team.
- Participate in monthly review call with President and CEO to discuss monthly division performance and review key financial reports.
- Assist the Division Controller as required with ad hoc requests.
- Ensure GAAP compliance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3-5 years related accounting experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting required.
- CPA is a plus.
- Financial report generation and management presentation skills required.
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, are essential to success in this role.
- Excellent critical thinking as well as analytical skills.
- Strong sense of responsibility regarding timely and accurate completion of work, and a strong commitment to corporate goals.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Solid knowledge of GAAP and regulations.
- Must be able to travel once per quarter to the Santa Cruz area.
