We are seeking a Safety and Compliance Supervisor to join a growing distribution organization in the Stockton area. Our client fosters a collaborative culture that emphasizes employee appreciation. The Safety and Compliance Supervisor will oversee daily compliance operations to ensure they adhere to Federal and State regulations from the Department of Transportation (DOT). Salary: $70,000-$85,000 DOE.
Qualified candidates will possess a minimum of five years in transportation regulatory management, extensive knowledge of DOT compliance, and exceptional communication and leadership abilities.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in managing daily DOT compliance operations, including driver qualification files, and maintaining all safety-related records in accordance with DOT regulations.
- Oversee and enforce the company's Drug and Alcohol Program including coordinating pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion testing.
- Actively promote a safety-first culture through daily safety messages, regular safety training sessions, and the preparation of monthly safety reports.
- Assisting field employees and safety managers.
- Stay current on changes to regulations, including drug and alcohol testing rules, vehicle safety standards, and other industry-specific safety guidelines, ensuring the company remains compliant.
- Lead training initiatives to ensure drivers are properly educated on DOT safety regulations, the Drug and Alcohol Program, and company-specific safety policies.
- Assist in the scheduling and completion of fleet inspections and audits, ensuring that all vehicles meet regulatory standards for safety and compliance.
- Assist in obtaining and maintaining operating permits, DMV licensing, and certifications for fleet operations, ensuring that all necessary documentation is up to date.
- Manage company Work Comp program.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 5 years in the transportation industry with strong knowledge of DOT/State/Federal regulations, including driver qualifications, drug and alcohol programs, and safety standards.
- Previous experience in management or supervisory role with the ability to guide and mentor a team in a fast-paced environment.
- In-depth understanding of DOT regulations
- Must be able to manage sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with drivers, management, and external regulatory bodies.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
