Job Description
We are exclusively recruiting for a Property Accountant to join a real estate development company with a strong mission in Sacramento. This is an exciting hybrid (3 days onsite), direct hire opportunity to take ownership of a wide array of accounting tasks including, but not limited to journal entries, reconciliations, and issuing financials for multiple properties. Salary Range: $75,000-$85,000 DOE.
The ideal candidate will have experience within the Real Estate and Property Management industry and will be proficient in MS Excel.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with all aspects of accounting: accounts payable, accounts receivable, monthly accruals, and monthly financial statements with all supporting schedules for multiple properties.
- Prepare journal entries to ensure business transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
- Complete general ledger reconciliations in accordance with month-end close schedule
- Reconcile cash, payables, receivables, prepaid rent, security deposit balances and other control accounts.
- Prepare and review monthly/quarterly financial statements, including budget to actual variance analysis.
- Manage cash schedules to ensure property cash needs are met.
- Prepare monthly check runs to ensure timely payment of invoices.
- Prepare lender reports monthly, quarterly, and annually for loan compliance.
- Assist external auditors with year-end audits on select properties.
- Assist external CPA with annual entity tax returns.
- Provide draft monthly cashflow forecasts for management review.
- Set up new vendor 1099 tax information in vendor ledger and assist in preparing annual 1099s.
- Perform special projects and other duties as needed.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA preferred, but not required.
- Minimum of 2 years of accounting with related industry experience
- Knowledge of accounting and understanding of general ledger accounts practices
- Highly proficient in MS Excel, Word, and database applications
- Team player who is proactive, self-directed, conscientious, and assumes accountability and responsibility for specific performance and work product.
- Must possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to prioritize competing deadlines.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently.
- Problem solving and analytical skills required.
