Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant for a leading construction company specializing in high-profile projects across the Northern Ca region. The Project Accountant will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of construction projects, ensuring accuracy in billing and job costing. This role will work closely with project managers, subcontractors, and vendors to track costs, analyze variances, and ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies. Pay: $40-$48/hour DOE.
The qualified candidate will be highly analytical and have at least three years of experience with project-related accounting.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Monitor project costs and expenses, ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints.
Review subcontractor and vendor invoices for accuracy and approve payments.
Collaborate with project managers to provide financial insights and support decision-making.
Prepare monthly financial reports and variance analyses for management review.
Collaborate with Project Managers for project billing, including updating billing percentages and analyzing project phase budgets
Assist in the preparation of audit materials and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Track invoices and communicate with clients to ensure receipt, resolve issues, and follow thru with payment.
Review AP statements/resolve payment discrepancies etc.
Participate in project meetings to provide financial updates and projections.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
3+ years of experience in project accounting within the construction industry.
Familiarity with Deltek Vision preferred.
Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles and practices.
Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office, particularly Excel.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
