We are recruiting for two Payroll and Benefits Specialist for a well-funded and strong missioned nonprofit organization in the Sacramento area. This is a direct hire opportunity, and our client offers excellent employee benefits including health, dental, vision, HSA, FSA, life insurance, and 401k options! The Payroll and Benefits Specialist will be responsible for supporting with payroll and benefits inquiries, leaves management, and maintaining the timekeeping system. 100% Onsite position. Pay: $27-$36/hour DOE.

The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years’ experience processing full cycle payroll in an HR department and previous experience working within an HRIS/payroll/timekeeping system.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Process full cycle payroll for internal employees.

• Verify employee timesheets and ensure compliance.

• Maintain human-resources files.

• Process leave-of-absence (LOA’s). 

• Manage employee benefits administration and insurance policies.

• Oversee maintenance of employee handbooks and human-resources policies.

• Administer retirement plans, serving as primary point of contact for staff.

• Engage with staff for recruiting, onboarding, and processing terminations.

• Perform other general administrative duties as requested.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum 3-5 years’ experience administering human resources and payroll.

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.

• Knowledge of principles and practices of human resources and payroll laws.

• PHR/SPHR certification preferred.

• Critical thinking, good judgment, and presentation skills.

• Solid time management: ability to organize and manage multiple priorities and work independently.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

• Strong team player with an approachable, friendly demeanor.

• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
