PAYROLL SPECIALIST – DIRECT HIRE


We are recruiting for a Payroll Specialist to join a successful financial institution in the Galt area. Our client offers a generous compensation package to include profit sharing and a 401(k) contribution! The ideal candidate will have processed full cycle payroll in a manual and high-volume environment.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Process all phases of employee payroll for approximately 400 employees and ensure payroll deadlines are met and employees are accurately paid.
  • Provides management support relating to employee payroll questions and/or requested
     information.
  • Transfers data from HR worksheets, attendance records, and individual timecards to ADP.
  • Balance payroll runs, produce GL entries to fund the federal, state, and local tax payments, as well as the payroll accounts for Payday.
  • Accept, review, process, calculate, and reconcile the payroll-related bank accounts.
  • Answer employee questions and payroll-troubleshooting issues.
  • Responsible for the accurate input of all new hire information to ADP which includes, but not
     limited to salary, benefit changes, leave of absence information.
  • Accurately prepare and distribute specific payroll or attendance reports monthly, quarterly, semiannual, or annual and/or when needed or requested by management.
  • Evaluate and recommend changes to daily workflow to Payroll Manager that would increase
     department effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Responsible for identifying electronic services such as etimesheets and making recommendations to department supervisor.
  • Assist Payroll Manager in special projects as needed.
  • Actively participate in testing of new payroll process and services.
  • Maintain a high level of job knowledge and awareness of payroll policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for computing, withholding, and deducting pay data associated with net earnings.
  • Serves as custodian of current and historical pay data for reporting purposes.


Skills and Qualification:

  • 3-5 years of payroll processing experience is required.
  • Experience with ADP is a plus but not required.
  • Working knowledge of standard business practices and procedures, including basic HR/Accounting practices.
  • Expanded knowledge of State and Federal employment laws.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, and possess excellent time management and
  • organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Computer-literate; knowledge of standard company software applications, internet
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Problem-solving ability and proven accuracy with detailed information.
  • Reliability, dependability, and flexibility.
