We are seeking a Payroll Manager to join a rapidly growing, fast-paced professional services organization with multiple divisions. This role offers a collaborative work environment with strong managerial support and direct oversight of three team members. The ideal candidate will bring leadership, accountability, and analytical expertise to manage complex payroll operations within a proprietary system. This hybrid position is based in Sacramento, with two remote days per week after the training period. Salary: $100,000 - $120,000 DOE.
The qualified candidate will have prior experience working for an outsourced payroll provider, exceptional customer service skills, and a strong understanding of payroll processing and labor laws. Payroll certification is preferred.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage payroll to ensure timely and accurate pay for employees, running associated payroll reports and maintaining up-to-date payroll records.
- Implement, maintain, and review payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
- Ensure that weekly and bi-weekly multi-state payroll is completed accurately and timely.
- Supervise a team of payroll staff.
- Manage, review, update and implement any updates to payroll processes and procedures to maintain compliance; stay abreast of changing laws, ensure training is provided as needed.
- Maintain good network and professional relationships.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business-related field.
- 5+ years’ experience in a payroll related position.
- Knowledge of payroll laws as well as applicable HR laws as they relate to payroll.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to keep up in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, customer service, time management and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work with all levels of employees/management.
