Job Description

We are recruiting for an experienced Payroll Manager to join a reputable and leading organization with corporate headquarters in Sacramento. Our client offers a hybrid schedule, excellent benefits and a collaborative leadership team. The Payroll Manager will oversee the payroll lifecycle, ensuring accurate financial records, payroll compliance, and efficient financial processes, while also managing and developing the payroll team. 

The qualified candidate will have meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to ensure accurate and timely payroll operations.

Salary range: $140,000-$150,000 DOE + bonus.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee and execute accurate and timely processing of payroll, including salaries, benefits, commission, taxes, and deductions.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records.
  • Ensure accurate calculation of wages, tax withholding, deductions, and benefits.
  • Manage year-end payroll processes, including W-2 preparation.
  • SME for payroll software and systems.
  • Prepare and analyze payroll reports. 
  • Supervise and mentor payroll staff, providing guidance and support.
  • Coordinate with HR on employee data changes, new hires, terminations, and promotions.
  • Conduct payroll staff performance evaluations and provide feedback.
  • Oversee payroll reconciliations, reporting, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Participate in audits and ensure compliance with internal controls.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as HR and finance.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve payroll processes and systems.
  • Stay updated on payroll legislation and best practices.

 

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration required. 
  • Proven experience in payroll management. 
  • 4-6 years of experience in payroll field. 
  • Strong understanding of payroll regulations.
  • Proficiency in payroll software/systems.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
