Pacific Staffing is partnering with our Rocklin CA based client to identify a detail-driven Payroll & Benefits Specialist to support accurate payroll processing, benefits administration, and employee support within a fast-paced, mission-focused organization. This full-time role is ideal for a highly organized professional with strong HRIS experience, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to accuracy, confidentiality, and service.
The Payroll & Benefits Specialist will process payroll transactions, audit timesheets, reconcile benefit invoices, support employee inquiries, and ensure compliance with federal and state payroll regulations. This position offers a stable schedule, meaningful work, and a collaborative team environment.
- Direct Hire Full-Time role
- Hybrid – 3 days onsite.
- $35–$38/Hr. (DOE)
Responsibilities
- Calculate, process, and audit payroll and benefit transactions in the HRIS system.
- Manage changes to salaries, benefits, deductions, garnishments, direct deposits, and taxes.
- Audit and correct employee timesheets; follow up on missing or inaccurate entries.
- Serve as the primary contact for payroll and benefits-related employee questions.
- Process new hires, terminations, life-change events, and pay-rate updates.
- Prepare payroll tax deposits and post payroll journal entries to the general ledger.
- Reconcile monthly insurance invoices with payroll records and GL data; enter adjustments as needed.
- Prepare off-cycle payroll checks for terminations.
- Present payroll and benefits information during New Employee Orientation.
- Maintain accurate payroll records, documentation, and compliance with organizational policies.
- Support additional administrative and payroll tasks as needed.
Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of payroll administration experience or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 year of employee benefits coordination experience.
- Strong understanding of federal and state payroll tax laws and payroll best practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including strong Excel skills.
- Experience with UKG Ready or similar HRIS/timekeeping systems.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to interact effectively with all levels of staff.
- Preferred: Associate’s degree in accounting or finance; CPP certification.
