We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and dynamic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead all aspects of financial operations for our client—a mission-driven organization serving the Greater Sacramento community. This executive leadership role is critical in shaping the organization’s fiscal strategy, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving sustainable financial planning across diverse funding sources and programs.
Salary: $190,000 to $245,000 per year depending on experience. In addition, the position offers a highly competitive benefits package that includes full family medical, dental, and vision coverage, generous leave options, and a 5% salary supplement. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and monitor customer-focused fiscal management by ensuring staff provide responsive financial services, including accommodating program needs and maintaining high service standards.
- Oversee financial planning and operations, including budgeting, banking, investments, and the use of all funding sources, ensuring alignment with agency cash flow needs and funding regulations.
- Ensure compliance and accountability through internal audits, adherence to laws and regulations, and accurate documentation following accounting principles and funding guidelines.
- Support and advise agency leadership by providing core financial services (e.g., payroll, payables/receivables), facilitating budget development, and serving as a financial resource to department heads and program managers.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related fields preferred; CPA certification and advanced degrees are a plus.
- Must have 7–10 years of progressive financial experience, including 3–5 years in a supervisory role; governmental accounting experience is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of public finance, governmental accounting practices, budgeting, fund accounting, and financial reporting standards.
- Proven leadership, team building, and communication abilities; familiarity with personnel administration and organizational management.
- Proficient in financial systems, software applications, and computer conversions; understanding of government, housing, and development operations is valuable.
