Job Description

We are recruiting for a Leave of Absence Administrator for a highly regarded organization in the Sacramento region. This is a long-term contract (12 months) and opportunity to work with one of Sacramento s top employers! This is a full time, 100% remote position. Pay: $39/hour.
The Leave of Absence Administrator will manage the day-to-day administration of LOA s by processing requests, coordinating, drafting letters, authorizing, or denying requests and monitoring LOA s. The ideal candidate will have experience with leave management, knowledge of employment laws and excellent communication skills. 


RESPONSIBILTIES:
  • Review leaves of absence requests and medical certifications.
  • Make determinations on the leaves, duration, and approve or deny leave requests.  
  • Processes the corresponding paperwork; monitor and authorize leave extensions. 
  • Communicate approval, denials, leave extensions, return to work plans and other important information regarding leave to employee manager. 
  • Develop and coordinate return to work plans.
  • Prepare and participate in open leave case reviews. 
  • Escalate complex cases and develop a case management strategy on cases that have a job performance or employee relations issue.
  • Maintain the computerized LOA tracking system(s) for assigned case load, entering, and updating leave status.
  • Act as a resource to those with inquiries regarding time off and leave questions.
  • Interpret and clarify the Leave of Absence policy guidelines to ensure accurate, fair, and consistent application of policy and collective bargaining agreements provisions.
  • Partner with HRBP on employee job performance issues; attendance; discipline and separations as it relates to leaves of absence.


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • HS Diploma or General Education Development (GED) or equivalent education/experience required
  • Claims experience within leave and absence management tracked in a Leave Management System (LMS).
  • Knowledge of California Pregnancy Disability Leave (PD), Family Medical Leave (FMLA), California Family Rights Act (CFRA) and Military Leaves. 
  • Knowledge of Short-Term Disability Plans (STD), integrated wage replacement (Sick/PTO), health and wellness benefits/COBRA is a plus. 
  • Experience with reading policies and/or collective bargaining agreements.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision. 
  • Organizational and time management skills. 
  • Possess problem-solving, critical thinking, and customer service skills. 
  • Possess effective listening and conflict resolution skills.
