Job Description

We are recruiting a Human Resources Specialist for a non-profit organization in downtown Sacramento. The HR Specialist will support the  HR department and performs a wide range of Administrative and Human Resources duties and projects. This is a long-term contract with the possibility to be hired!


The ideal candidate will have experience with employee onboarding/offboarding, excellent multi-tasking skills and strong technical skills to navigate the HRIS software. 


RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Prepare offer requests and offer letters and administer pre-employment process (background and reference checks, drug screens, etc.).
  • Assist in new employee orientation preparations.
  • Process new hire paperwork and new hire orientation training records.
  • Facilitate termination process including preparing termination paperwork and notifications of termination.
  • Assist with worker s compensation administration. (filing, claims, scheduling appointments, follow-up).
  • Respond to requests for employment verifications.
  • Maintain HRIS records and compile reports from database. 
  • Administer unemployment claims, leaves of absences, and workers compensation in accordance with state and federal guidelines. 
  • Administer online training record system.
  • Coordinate benefit open enrollment, 401K meetings and onsite health fairs. 
  • COVID-19 absence management. 


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 2-4 years experience in an HR support or administrative role. 
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field. 
  • Knowledge of HRIS (Workday experience preferred).
  • Exceptional written communication and business writing skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong organization skills.
  • Warm personality with excellent customer service.
  • Working knowledge of state and federal laws employment laws and COVID-19 quarantine guidelines. 
  • Ability to use good judgement and pass a criminal background check.
  • Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and boosted if eligible.
