Job Description
We are recruiting a Human Resources Specialist for a non-profit organization in downtown Sacramento. The HR Specialist will support the HR department and performs a wide range of Administrative and Human Resources duties and projects. This is a long-term contract with the possibility to be hired!
The ideal candidate will have experience with employee onboarding/offboarding, excellent multi-tasking skills and strong technical skills to navigate the HRIS software.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare offer requests and offer letters and administer pre-employment process (background and reference checks, drug screens, etc.).
- Assist in new employee orientation preparations.
- Process new hire paperwork and new hire orientation training records.
- Facilitate termination process including preparing termination paperwork and notifications of termination.
- Assist with worker s compensation administration. (filing, claims, scheduling appointments, follow-up).
- Respond to requests for employment verifications.
- Maintain HRIS records and compile reports from database.
- Administer unemployment claims, leaves of absences, and workers compensation in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
- Administer online training record system.
- Coordinate benefit open enrollment, 401K meetings and onsite health fairs.
- COVID-19 absence management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2-4 years experience in an HR support or administrative role.
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field.
- Knowledge of HRIS (Workday experience preferred).
- Exceptional written communication and business writing skills.
- Attention to detail and strong organization skills.
- Warm personality with excellent customer service.
- Working knowledge of state and federal laws employment laws and COVID-19 quarantine guidelines.
- Ability to use good judgement and pass a criminal background check.
- Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and boosted if eligible.
