We are seeking a Human Resources Manager with a robust background in training, employee relations, and employee engagement to join a multi-state organization. This direct hire position is hybrid (one day offsite per week) based in Sacramento. The Human Resources Manager will play a pivotal role in supporting multiple business units by providing guidance on HR policies, employee relations, leadership training, performance management, and fostering employee engagement. With oversight of at least two direct reports, the qualified candidate will leverage their extensive training and employee engagement experience to mentor and coach two Human Resources Generalists. This position will grow into a director role in the near future and travel once per quarter is required.
Salary Range: $125,000- $135,000 DOE, plus 18% bonus.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct HR audits to ensure the company remains compliant within required state and federal regulations.
- Responsible for training and development.
- Partner with field leaders
- Consult with managers on internal investigations.
- Prepare reports and offer additional support to address HR needs.
- Provide expert legal HR compliance guidance, ensuring the company’s employees meet regulatory requirements, while mitigating exposure.
- Create, edit, and maintain changes to employee handbook.
- Develop and execute management training on various topics, including hiring, terminations, employee relations, performance, and anti-harassment.
- Guide managers through complex employee issues, including leaves of absence, workers' compensation, and disability accommodations.
- Assist managers in developing job descriptions that align with department goals and culture.
- Design and implement performance review programs that promote fairness, effectiveness, compliance, and alignment with organizational culture.
- Ensure safety policies and procedures follow local, state, and federal Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations, including Workplace Violence Prevention Plan Programs.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business or related required.
- 5 years of human resources experience as a generalist, manager or business partner.
- PHR, SPHR, or SHRM-CP preferred.
- Must have leadership training experience.
- Extensive experience in employee relations and solid labor law knowledge required.
- Must be comfortable interpreting state and federal law.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong technical skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with HRIS or similar HR/payroll systems.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-past environment, managing multiple deadlines and priorities with accuracy and efficiency.
