Job Description
We are recruiting a Human Resources Generalist for a highly competent and stable company in the public sector. The HR Generalist will be responsible for managing a variety of HR functions including benefits administration, leaves of absence management, workers compensation administration, and safety reporting. This position will be a successor to the HR Manager and will work closely with the Director of HR. Fully onsite. Pay: $65,000-$82,000
The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of human resources benefits and workers compensation experience, strong with HR operations, and a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administer and oversee employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other fringe benefits.
- Coordinate the open enrollment process, communicate benefit options to employees, and assist with resolving benefit-related inquiries.
- Manage workers' compensation claims from initial report to resolution, including communication with employees, insurance carriers, and healthcare providers.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding leaves of absence, including FMLA, ADA, and other applicable regulations.
- Administer leave management and accommodation processes.
- Provide guidance to employees and managers on leave policies, eligibility requirements, and documentation procedures.
- Collaborate with HR and management teams to develop and implement leave management strategies that promote employee well-being and operational efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to benefits, workers' compensation, and leaves of absence, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with privacy laws.
- Conduct thorough investigations into workplace injuries or accidents, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Stay updated on changes in relevant laws, regulations, and industry trends related to benefits, workers' compensation, and leave administration.
- Assist with other HR functions as needed, such as recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and employee relations.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have Specialist or Generalist level experience with benefits administration, leave of absence, and workers compensation.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field is required.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a Human Resources department.
- SHRM, HRCI, or PHR certification is preferred.
- Proactive work ethic to achieve complex resolutions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Solid understanding of California state and federal employment laws.
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems, with the ability to learn new software quickly.
- Must be able to clear criminal background check.
