Job Description

We are recruiting for an experienced Human Resources Business Partner for a non-profit organization in downtown Sacramento. This is a newly created position with great growth potential! The ideal candidate will be a well-versed generalist, with strong project management experience to provide professional, analytical, consultative, and strategic support for managers, supervisors, and employees regarding human resources issues.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide consultative service and support to management and staff serving as the primary business partner on employee matters. 
  • Conduct effective, thorough, and objective investigations and responsible for maintaining in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partner with the legal department as needed/required.
  • Partner with the leadership team regarding employee and management development needs.
  • Lead employee onboarding and orientation activities.
  • Support and contribute to the development and maintenance of a talent strategy and performance-oriented culture.
  • Assist in matters of communications between employees and leadership, performance management, conflict resolution, change management, disciplinary action, and explanation and clarification of policies and procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local regulations governing the employment process.
  • Assist in development, documentation, and implementation of continuous improvement of Human Resource practices, procedures, and programs to meet organizational needs.
  • May guide the work of and mentor more junior level HR staff.


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of 10+ years of relevant professional work experience is preferred.
  • Degree in Human Resources, Business, or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • SPHR/PHR strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of employee relations, coaching, talent development, performance, current employment laws and Human Resources practices.
  • Solid experience developing and implementing HR policies, programs, projects and initiative with proven project management and leadership skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, efficiently manage timelines, and execute projects effectively with limited supervision.
  • Excellent organizational skills; strong initiative; excellent follow through and time management skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships across the organization with all levels of staff.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and escalate critical issues and sensitive matters as necessary, and able to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints maintaining complete confidentiality where required.
