Job Description
We are recruiting for a Human Resources Assistant for a highly reputable and specialized retail organization in Sacramento. The Human Resources Assistant will be responsible for supporting the HR department with a wide range of administrative duties and projects, including, but not limited to employee files, HRIS maintenance, training, and compliance. The ideal candidate will have previous experience supporting human resources, strong administrative and organizational skills, and proficiency with HRIS or data management systems (Paycom is preferred).
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist HR department with day-to-day administrative duties and clerical support.
- Maintain and update files/records within the HRIS system.
- Order and maintain office supplies/equipment as needed.
- Ensure renewal information for employee certifications.
- Track and administer company-wide evaluation and survey programs.
- Provide backup support to attendance and benefits programs.
- Track and administer staff perks and rewards programs.
- Respond to employee inquiries and direct employees to appropriate personnel.
- Answer incoming phone calls from the public as needed.
- Support the HR team with routine metrics and data reporting.
- Prepare for and conduct trainings as needed.
- Prepare draft documents as requested.
- Participate in strategic planning with the department.
- Attend meetings and events as requested.
- Report safety, legal, ethical, and personnel concerns to appropriate managers in a timely manner.
- Work weekends, early mornings and evenings as needed.
- Compile information and contribute to reports.
- Assist with additional departmental projects as needed.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma is required. AA or BS in Human Resources or related field is preferred.
- 1-2 years’ experience in a human resources support role.
- At least 1 year experience with office administration.
- Experience with HR databases, ATS, and data management systems.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.
- Intermediate proficiency with MS Office.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Remains current and familiar with Human Resources best practices.
