Job Description
We are recruiting an experienced Grant Accountant to join a thriving philanthropic foundation in the Sacramento area. The Grant Accountant plays a key role in the accounting and financial reporting of government and non-profit grants and contracts. This is a temporary position with strong potential for permanent placement. Pay: $39.40/hour.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years’ experience with grant accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting within a non-profit organization.

Primary Responsibilities:
Work with finance and program staff to develop budgets for awarded grants and contracts funded from private foundations or government agencies.
Develop and maintain multi-year grant and contract budgets reports in SAGE Intacct.
Create multi-year grant reporting in SAGE Intacct and Adaptive.
Financial reporting for reimbursement of expenses.
Review invoices for reimbursement by internal deadline to meet funder’s requirement.
Make sure all expenses have been posted to the general ledger.
Ensure payroll allocation is accurate and agrees with the grant budget.
Post entries to record direct, indirect revenue and grants receivable.
Post entries to record recognition of deferred revenue.
Reconcile all totals to approved budget before finalizing invoice.
Route invoice in Concur for payment after compliance review and approval.
Track compliance reports then make it available to the funder.
Financial reporting for actual grant expenses.
Review financial reports of partners by internal deadline to meet funder’s requirement.
Ensure all expenses have been posted to the general ledger.
Include additional expenses not reported in the prior financial report.
Reconcile all totals to general ledger before finalizing financial report.
Prepare budget modification when required.
Give final financial report or budget modification to program leadership.
Reconcile multi-year grant report to financial report totals.
Skills and Qualifications:
2+ years nonprofit accounting experience, specifically in grant budgeting and reporting.
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field preferred, 4 years of progressive accounting experience, including 1 year as a grant accountant can be used in lieu of a degree.
Must be proficient in accounting software including SAGE Intacct, Salesforce, Concur, Adaptive and advance in MS Excel.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret proposals, reports, journals entries, financial and database reports, grant agreements, contracts, and memos.
Ability to compose business correspondence.
Ability to collaborate with partners, grantees, contractors and members of the community.
Must have excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
