We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead the accounting and finance operations for our Sacramento based client. This role is responsible for overseeing financial reporting, compliance, audits, and budgeting processes, while ensuring accuracy, transparency, and adherence to GAAP standards. The Controller will play a key leadership role in managing staff, strengthening internal controls, and supporting the financial health of the organization.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leads accounting and finance operations, supervising staff, overseeing daily functions, and ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal policies.
- Manages financial reporting and analysis, including monthly closings, board presentations, management reports, and budget variance reviews.
- Coordinates audits and tax compliance, directing annual audit processes, preparing required documentation, and overseeing federal, state, and local tax filings.
- Develops and monitors budgets and forecasts, utilizing financial software to compile, evaluate, and balance organizational budgets, cash flow, and projections.
- Oversees payroll and benefits accounting, preparing journal entries, supporting HR in payroll activities, and managing retirement plan calculations.
- Maintains financial controls and relationships, implementing internal procedures, monitoring cash and credit lines, and managing banking partnerships.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Educational and professional credentials including a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business, and must have an active CPA license.
- Extensive financial background with 10+ years of experience and at least 5 years in supervisory roles.
- Exposure to multi-company structures, and intercompany accounting; knowledge of cost and activity-based accounting is a plus.
- Technical proficiency in GAAP, internal controls, and accounting systems such as Microsoft Dynamics GP, Management Reporter, QuickBooks Online, and advanced Excel.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and collaborate across all levels of employees.
