We are seeking a Controller to join our client in Sacramento, a rapidly growing organization offering a hybrid work arrangement (3 days onsite, 2 days remote). The Controller will play a pivotal role in establishing and enforcing financial policies and controls, conducting financial risk assessments, and preparing annual budgets and forecasts. Compensation for this role is competitive, with a salary range of $130,000 to $150,000 plus a discretionary bonus.
The qualified candidate will be a dynamic leader with exceptional communication skills and a background in managing complex accounting for multiple entities within a mid-size company. While a CPA is preferred, it is not mandatory.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the financial reporting of all business units.
- Manage and direct the preparation of financial statements.
- Ensure financial information is reviewed and approved in accordance with established policies.
- Evaluate and enhance financial controls and tax return procedures.
- Analyze and interpret balance sheets, income statements, cash flow, and liabilities.
- Coordinate and assist with the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
- Prepare and review journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Supervise all Accounting Associates, manage their capacity and work-load allocation, hold them accountable, and provide training and development.
- Monitor closing processes, billing, invoicing, and expenses.
- Oversee the company's ERP processing systems to ensure transactions are posted accurately.
- Monitor cash balances and cash forecasts.
- Oversee financial and accounting staff to include Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
- Maintain fixed asset records.
- Assess current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement, and implement new processes.
- Ensure all corporate regulated controls are adhered to, standard documents are updated, and accessible and approval requirements are met.
- Ensure that the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience for a mid-size or larger Corporation.
- Certified Public Accountant designation a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
- Advanced competency in financial management and accounting software.
- High level of written and oral communication skills.
- In-depth knowledge of accounting standards.
- Superb organizational and time management abilities.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Proficient Microsoft Office skills, especially MS Excel.
- Able to perform analytical analysis under various situations.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
