A Sacramento-based manufacturing company with operations across multiple states is currently seeking a Vice President of Accounting. This position will collaborate closely with a supportive CFO to oversee financial performance and accounting operations, supervising seven direct reports. The VP of Accounting will be responsible for meeting with branch managers at several locations, reviewing management reporting and variance analysis. Salary: $160,000 to $190,000 DOE, with a discretionary bonus, as this role will be a successor position for the retiring CFO within a year.
The qualified candidate will possess robust accrual accounting skills and experience. While public accounting or a CPA certification is beneficial, it is not mandatory for this role.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and manage the Finance and Accounting Department's daily functions and activities.
- Ability to create KPI’s, Metrics and management reports.
- Develop and implement goals, objectives, policies, and procedures for the department.
- Provide leadership to create a high-performing team and support ongoing skill development.
- Improve and monitor the efficiency and effectiveness of programs, service delivery, and procedures.
- Analyze and reconcile various balance sheet accounts and prepare necessary journal entries.
- Oversee month-end closings, review entries prepared by staff and other departments, and ensure all departments have closed.
- Review monthly bank reconciliations, resolve discrepancies, and prepare the Consolidated Cash Flow Statement.
- Assist the CFO with year-end audits, analyze data, and prepare work papers for auditors.
- Assist in preparing annual budgets and budget revisions.
- Ensure the integrity of the general ledger system and manage fixed asset information, including depreciation.
- Prepare accounting reports for the CFO, other departments, and senior management, including monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial statements.
- Develop reports to assist with financial analysis.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree or degree in accounting or finance required.
- Eight (8) years of progressive, responsible accounting experience.
- Must be able to create KPI’s and Metrics using MS Excel
- CPA designation is highly preferred.
- Expertise in financial and operational management, including GAAP, financial forecasting, budgeting, staff planning, and relevant laws and regulations.
- Proficiency with accounting/ERP software (i.e. PowerBI, SQL, Sage 300 CRE and advanced Excel).
- Knowledge of internal and/or external auditing practices.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for providing high levels of customer service and effectively dealing with various stakeholders.
- Effective interpersonal communication techniques, verbally and in writing.
- Ability to evaluate and develop improvements in operations, procedures, policies, or methods.
