Job Description

We are recruiting for an Interim Controller (6 months) for a community based non-profit organization in the Sacramento area. The Controller will assist the CFO with financial reporting, grant requirements, taxes and help lead the finance department staff. This is a 100% remote opportunity! * Our client is only looking for candidates within the greater Sacramento region or Central Valley.     Pay: $50/hr-$70/hr DOE.
The ideal candidate will be a hands-on problem solver with at least five years of accounting experience and experience supervising a team. 
RESONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist CFO with corporate budgets and financial reporting.
  • Perform ongoing review of monthly corporate financial reports and departmental performance.
  • Analyze monthly allocation of expenses.
  • Support the CFO with management and compliance issues involved with federal and state accounting and reporting matters.
  • Supervise finance staff.
  • Assist CFO with board reports.
  • Assist the CFO in the facilitation of interim and year-end financial audit, 403b plan audit, insurance, and funder audits.
  • Work with investment managers to invest idle funds to maximize returns.
  • Coordinate cash flow needs with Loan Fund, and IT.
  • Manage departmental tasks, products, and resources. 
  • Organize and conduct accounting strategic planning activities that reflect the department and company goals.
  • Stay current and implement new FASB, GAAP, and OMB pronouncements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor s Degree in Finance or Accounting required. 
  • CPA certification OR MB
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting and finance; nonprofit accounting is a plus.
  • 5 years of supervision experience. 
  • Treasury management experience is preferred.
  • Government grants and contracts experience is preferred.
  • Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Accrual basis accounting, fund accounting and financial reporting.
  • Accounting software and database systems.
  • Ability to prepare and present complex financial analysis, reports, statements, and summaries.
  • Strategic thinker with ability to analyze and resolve complex issues. 
  • Effectively listen and communicate both verbally and in writing
