Chief Operating Officer


We are recruiting for an experienced COO for a national transportation and logistics company based in Sacramento.   Reporting to the CEO, the COO will provide critical organizational stewardship and exceptional leadership during a period of rapid growth and high level of change.


The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial, strategic thinker with a solid track record, who will lead continuous improvement while focusing on efficiencies and ROI. Our client is seeking a leader who oversees company operations and employee productivity, building a highly inclusive culture ensuring team members thrive and organizational outcomes are met.
          
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Along with the CEO, communicates the overall vision the why & what and supports employees as they work through the how. Set clear expectations and holds people accountable. 
  • Develops actionable strategies and plans that translate organizational vision and operational strategy into effective daily operations. Integrates company functions like operations with administrative and ensures alignment in the short-term and long-term company objectives. 
  • Strategic thinker, employing critical thinking and creative problem solving. Possesses common sense and good intuition for what s achievable, and what s not. Thinks about how we can do this instead of why we can t.  
  • Leads continuous improvement in everything and thinks about ROI and efficiencies in improvement. 
  • Has a great eye for detail to determine what s wrong with this picture. Thrives on analysis and metrics to ensure that daily operations are running in the most optimal conditions and utilizes strategies based on data- driven decisions and actionable metrics. 
  • Clear communicator. Ensures everybody understands the message the same way and in the way it is intended to be understood. Non-judgmental and takes the time to really listen and ask questions. 
  • Appropriate sense of urgency. Enjoys what they do. Enjoys being part of something bigger. Knows that personal success is an outcome of company success, not the other way around.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor s degree in Business Management, Logistics, or related field.
  • 10 plus years of progressive leadership experience in the field of transportation and or production. 
  • Proven leadership skills and interest in leading people and change. 
  • Detail oriented with solid analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills required; and strong computer skills with the ability to learn new systems.
  • Ability to utilize strategies based on data-driven decisions and actionable metrics.
  • Highly collaborative approach and ability to work across teams and functions to achieve success.
  • Engaging and motivating people manager.
  • Ability to connect and engage with stakeholders at varying levels.
  • Possesses common sense, employs critical thinking and creative problem solving.
