We are hiring a Controller for a highly respected Real Estate and Construction firm in Sacramento. This is a dynamic leadership role, reporting directly to the CFO, with oversight of a team of accounting professionals.

Salary: $125,000 to $150,000. DOE. 100% on site in Sacramento.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Strategic Financial Planning – Forecast cash flow to optimize working capital and liquidity, advising senior leadership with financial analysis and benchmarking for competitive decision-making.
- Cash Management & Compliance – Oversee entity-level cash activities, including transactions, reconciliations, tax obligations, and compliance with financial reporting standards and regulations.
- Financial Reporting & Budgeting – Ensure timely financial reporting, manage intercompany transactions, oversee monthly close processes, and maintain compliance with debt covenants and lending agreements.
- Operational Accounting – Develop efficient workflow systems, oversee financial processing for multiple entities, coordinate staff responsibilities, and enforce company-wide financial policies.
- Regulatory & Risk Management – Maintain business permits and licenses, ensure tenant and vendor insurance compliance, and assess financial risks of new clients and tenants.
- Leadership & Team Development – Supervise accounting staff, coordinate training, recruit personnel, and communicate procedural updates to enhance operational efficiency.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education & Experience – B.S. in Accounting or related field, with 4-6 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Technical Expertise – Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and property management accounting and entity tax filings; proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Analytical & Communication Skills – Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Leadership & Efficiency – Collaborative leadership style with a hands-on approach; ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
