We are seeking an Assistant Controller to join a prominent financial services organization in the Sacramento area. This pivotal role will report directly to the Controller and serve as their successor, playing a crucial part in shaping the organization's financial strategy and ensuring sustained growth. Responsibilities include overseeing internal and external financial reporting, managing monthly closings, reviewing and approving daily journal entries, conducting balance sheet reconciliations, and spearheading the implementation of new systems, processes, internal controls, and accounting policies. After onsite training in Roseville, the position offers a hybrid work model.
The qualified candidate will be a proactive leader with robust experience in general ledger accounting and comprehensive knowledge of GAAP. A CPA certification is highly desirable.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including bank reconciliations and journal entries, to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Produce accurate and timely completion of the month, quarter, and year-end close deliverables
- Monitor and control company expenses, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and assisting with budgeting and forecasting.
- Utilize advanced Excel functions and tools to analyze financial data, create reports, and streamline financial processes.
- Participate in annual financial audits and coordinate with external auditors to provide necessary documentation and support.
- Perform ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as requested by management.
Skills & Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required. A master’s degree is a plus.
- CPA preferred but not required.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting.
- Direct management experience required.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, and complex formulas.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, NetSuite, etc.) and experience with spreadsheet applications (e.g., Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets).
- Exceptional attention to detail to ensure the accuracy of financial data and documentation.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for detail-oriented interaction with team members, customers, and management.
- Strong customer service skills and a customer-centric approach to resolving issues.
- Demonstrated high ethical standards and ability to handle sensitive financial information with confidentiality.
Salary: $110,000 to $130,000 DOE.
