Assistant Controller- Direct Hire


We are recruiting for a Assistant Controller with strong technical accounting skills for an Industry leader that is projected to continue to grow over the next few years. This position will will report to a strong CFO. Candidate must have an active CPA License. Salary range: $140, 000/yr.-$160, 000/yr. DOE.


The Assistant Controller will be the successor to the Controller and partner with the executive team to continue building a strong finance team. The role will require significant detailed hands-on efforts while offering an opportunity to be strategic and increase the impact of this critical function within the organization. A successful candidate will be able to operate in a fast-paced, fluid environment and be able to see the big picture and drive growing the function for scale.


Primary Responsibilities:
  • In coordination with the CFO plan, direct, and coordinate all accounting operational functions.
  • Provide suggestions for improvement while continually re-evaluating the company s established accounting processes and ensure the company s accounting processes are optimally efficient and GAAP compliant.
  • Manage select accounting staff personnel and provide leadership to the department members.
  • Provide development suggestions for accounting staff in learning new skills and improving current abilities.
  • Assess and ensure the internal control structure of the organization.
  • Support the timely completion of the monthly and annual closing process.
  • Assist in managing the preparation of the company s monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Serve as a contact and build relationships with the company s external auditors.
  • Understand and develop KPIs and other metrics that provide management with timely information vital to the decision-making process.
  • Ensure accuracy of revenue recognition and associated reconciliations.
  • Oversee regulatory reporting of tax and compliance items.
  • Take ownership of various software tools that the company uses in the accounting or financial process.
  • In conjunction with the Controller, ensure that all accounting projects and other work is completed in a timely fashion.
  • Perform other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as may be required from time to time - quite often on short notice.


Skills and Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Bachelor s degree in Accounting and/or Finance or equivalent experience; MBA preferred.
  • CPA (active or inactive).Ability to deal with multiple concurrent demands.
  • Leadership experience building an accounting organization and driving organizational and process change.
  • Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP.
  • Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and proven ability to deliver accuracy in the team s work products.
  • Strong work ethic and demonstrated ability to independently prioritize workload based on organizational needs/demands.
  • Highly analytical with exceptional problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage and direct his or her direct reports with established goals holding team accountable for performance.
  • Possess superior communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and provide business insights.
  • Self-motivated requiring minimal supervision for successful assignment completion.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills to meet financial reporting requirements.
