We are recruiting on behalf of our client for a Government Relations & Community Engagement Specialist. This dynamic role supports the client’s Governmental Relations team by advancing education policy, strengthening community partnerships across Northern California. As a Government Relations & Community Engagement Specialist, you will serve as a key liaison to public sector and organizational stakeholders, elected officials, and community leaders. You’ll lead grassroots organizing efforts, represent the organization at public events, and contribute to legislative advocacy initiatives.
- Pay range: $70K-$78K/year (DOE).
- Remote with 50% plus Travel
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Build and maintain relationships with public sector and non-profit stakeholders, government representatives, and community leaders to support advocacy efforts
- Coordinate grassroots outreach and mobilization around key legislative and policy priorities
- Represent the organization at meetings, events, and public forums to enhance visibility and engagement
- Plan and execute advocacy, fundraising, and community outreach events, including tours and public presentations
- Develop and distribute educational materials, issue briefs, and presentations to inform stakeholders on critical topics
- Collaborate across departments and regions to support member programs, stakeholder coalitions, and strategic initiatives
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or 2–5 years of experience in political organizing, public affairs, or legislative advocacy
- Proven ability to engage with elected officials, coordinate meetings and events, and deliver public policy presentations
- Strong understanding of government structures, and the legislative process at the local, state, and federal levels
- Skilled in grassroots organizing, coalition building, and interpreting legislative and regulatory proposals
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, timelines, and stakeholder relationships
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently throughout Northern California; valid driver’s license required
