We are recruiting for an Accounting Manager to join a real estate development company in Sacramento with a strong mission. This is an exciting hybrid (3 days onsite), direct hire opportunity to play a key role in overseeing financial operations for affordable multi-family housing properties. This role will be responsible for supervising two-five accountants and support staff. Our client offers 100% paid employee medical benefits, dental and vision, 120 hours accrued vacation the first year, 56 hours of paid sick leave, 401(k) with up to 6% employer match, and 16 paid holidays including the week between Christmas and New Years. Salary Range: $115,000-$140,000 DOE.
The qualified candidate will have five years of progressive accounting experience, excellent leadership ability, and strong GAAP, financial reporting and budgeting skills. Industry experience in in property management, real estate, or affordable housing accounting is preferred.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee the preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations and financial statements.
Supervise the annual audit process and coordinate with external auditors.
Review and coordinate tax returns for all entities ensuring compliance.
Facilitate budget preparation, collaborating with department heads to ensure accurate and comprehensive financial planning.
Supervise and mentor accounting staff by providing guidance, training, and performance management.
Assist with cash flow projections.
Partner with accounting and finance leaders to ensure financial alignment across the organization.
Manage the accounts receivable process.
Recommend process improvements for efficiency and accuracy.
Evaluate and improve internal financial policies related to banking and reconciliations.
Maintain compliance with company policies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum five years of accounting experience and at least two years of supervisory experience.
Bachelors degree in accounting or finance.
Strong GAAP knowledge, financial reporting, audits, budgeting, and tax return coordination.
Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with property management financial software is a plus.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to manage priorities, workflow, and multiple deadlines.
