Job Description

We are recruiting for an Accounting Manager to join a small membership association in Sacramento. Our client offers a hybrid schedule, CalPERS benefits, 401(k), generous PTO and holiday leave, and parking is included. The Accounting Manager is responsible to oversee the accounting function for the organization and manage accounts payables, accounts receivables and the general ledger for various entities. This position will be working with a small team in a highly collaborative environment and have one direct report.  Salary: $90,000-$100,000 DOE.


The ideal candidate will be a hands-on accounting manager with solid skills with QuickBooks Online, Sage Intacct and grant accounting/project accounting experience. 


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee all accounting functions, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, and inventory. 

  • Manage the accounting staff.

  • Responsible for the general ledger including month-end and year-end close. 

  • Coordinate the annual audit and tax returns with outside CPA. 

  • Assist in the process of developing and reviewing budgets for fundraising and internal proposals.

  • Review financial results and prepare managerial reports and analysis. 

  • Reconcile monthly bank statements.

  • Issue timely and complete financial statements.

  • Maintain the chart of accounts.

  • Oversee payroll.

  • Establish and maintain accounting policies and procedures.

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal requirements. 


SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required. 

  • Minimum of five years’ accounting experience.

  • Grant accounting and project accounting experience is desired. 

  • QuickBooks Online and Sage Intacct experience preferred.

  • Solid knowledge of GAAP.

  • Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.

  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities. 

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. 

  • Ability to work with, train and coach other team members and experience in a leadership role.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
