Assistant Controller

Job Description

We are seeking an Assistant Controller to join a prominent financial services organization in the Sacramento area. This pivotal role will report directly to the Controller and serve as their successor, playing a crucial part in shaping the organization's financial strategy and ensuring sustained growth. Responsibilities include overseeing internal and external financial reporting, managing monthly closings, reviewing and approving daily journal entries, conducting balance sheet reconciliations, and spearheading the implementation of new systems, processes, internal controls, and accounting policies. After onsite training in Roseville, the position offers a hybrid work model. Salary: $110,000 to $130,000 DOE plus bonus.


The qualified candidate will be a proactive leader with robust experience in general ledger accounting and comprehensive knowledge of GAAP. A CPA certification is highly desirable.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including bank reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Assist with month end closing
  • Ability to manage the accounts payable processes. 
  • Assist with financial reports for leadership team and board members.


Skills & Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required. A master’s degree is a plus. 
  • CPA preferred. 
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting. Finance sector preferred. 
  • Strong internal controls and audits experience
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, NetSuite, etc.) and experience with spreadsheet applications (e.g., Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets).
  • Highly organized
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Exceptional communicator.
