We are recruiting for an Accounting Manager to join a stable, profitable, and growing organization in the Calaveras County area. This role manages day-to-day accounting, month-end close, financial reporting, and process improvements while supervising the Accounting Specialist.
The qualified candidate will be a hands-on Accounting Manager with strong construction accounting experience to oversee the company’s financial operations and support business functions. Success in this role requires someone who is meticulous, forward-thinking, and driven to establish structure, enhance processes, and uphold accurate, well-maintained financial records. - Salary Range: $120,000-$140,000 DOE + Discretionary Bonus

Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including AP, AR, payroll coordination, and supervision of the Accounting Specialist.
- Manage month-end close, general ledger accuracy, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Maintain clean, organized financial records and strong checks and balances.
- Implement and refine processes for job costing and construction-related accounting workflows.
- Prepare and deliver financial statements, reporting packages, and insights to leadership.
- Monitor cash flow, expenses, and overall financial performance.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for auditors and tax partners.
- Partner with CPA/bookkeeper on financial reporting, tax filings, and compliance.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Support business operations through system optimization and process development.
- Manage vendor relationships, including CPA firms.
- Develop and maintain internal procedures, documentation, and operational standards.
- Provide reporting and operational insights to support leadership decision-making.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required.
- 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Construction accounting experience required.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, month-end close, GL management, variance analysis, and job costing.
- Knowledge of California and Federal compliance requirements.
- Experience in small to mid-sized companies with broad, hands-on responsibilities.
- High level of organization, accuracy, and accountability.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
- Strong communication skills and ability to partner effectively with leadership.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks.
