Job Description
We are recruiting for a Legal Assistant/Copyeditor for a premier law firm in Sacramento. The copyeditor will be responsible for proofreading and editing a variety of legal documents as well as providing scheduling support to attorneys. This is a full-time onsite position. Pay: $60k-75k DOE
The ideal candidate will have copyediting experience with contracts/volumes of legal documents, strong administrative skills, and a degree in English or Linguistics is preferred.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create and revise a variety of documentation including letters, reports, contracts, manuals, handbooks, etc.
- Formatting, proofing, and editing legal documents.
- Analyze data with high attention to detail and critical thinking.
- Calendaring and Scheduling for attorneys.
- Uploading documents into a central database and data entry related to the documents.
- Data management and entry into word processing database.
- Provide professional and courteous customer service to clients.
- Support the attorneys and office at large with all administrative tasks.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous experience with copyediting in a professional work environment.
- Associates or bachelor’s degree in English or Linguistics is preferred.
- Excellent proofreading, grammar, and editing skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Legal terminology or industry experience preferred (willing to train Legal)
- High level of professional demeanor.
- Comfortable working with multiple attorneys and high-profile clients.
- Reliable and excellent attendance.
- Intermediate MS Office including Word, Outlook and Excel.
- High attention to detail; organized; works well independently.
- Resume and writing sample will be required.
