Purchasing Assistant (Temp Project)

We have a special project for a Purchasing Assistant that performs a variety of routine clerical and purchasing support functions for a manufacturing plant in Sacramento. The Purchasing Assistant maintains all purchase order files and logs, prepares change orders, reviews acknowledgements, and verifies delivery dates and pricing information. This is an excellent project for 30-60 days, with potential to extend.

Responsibilities: Generate selected requisitions. Process discrepant material reports. Phone contact with outside vendors to place and verify orders and delivery times. Vendor contact to rectify order issues and communicate resolution to affected parties. Responsible for following up on variety of purchasing related requests to ensure accurate and timely information. Maintain accounts/records of purchasing activities per standard operating procedures. Research purchasing related issues per request. Provide customer service to ensure customers(dealers, suppliers, Sales personnel, etc.) have all necessary current information. Follow up to ensure resolutionof issues.

Requirements: 2+years' experience working in purchasing or procurement, preferably withinManufacturing, Production or Construction environments. High School Diploma or GED. Display a sense of urgency and self-motivation. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Proficient in MS Office and MRP/CRM or ERP system. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Excellent customer service skills with an attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Must be available immediately.
