Infusion Registered Nurse
Responsibilities: Prepares patient for intravenous chemotherapy treatment by educating about treatment. Prepares patient for treatment; captures all vitalsigns. Documents and obtains patient's history including lab results. Triages telephone calls from patients receiving chemo therapy. Assesses and directs patients accordingly. Reviews and sorts lab reports, radiology and other correspondence that correlates with patient visit. Monitors clinical supply inventory, requisitions supplies, and coordinates restock process related to chemotherapy room. Initiates and administers pre-medications ordered by the physician prior to treatment. Administers chemotherapy infusion while continuously monitoring patient vital signs, and observing patient for signs and symptoms of adverse reaction to treatment as ordered by the physician. Discontinues infusion when prescribed amount is administered or before if adverse effect is noted. Maintains patient comfort throughout treatment. Mix chemotherapy and monoclonal antibody therapies. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the physician.
Requirements: 2+ years' Registered Nurse with Oncology/Chemo experience. Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required. Current California Professional Nursing License. Current BLS or ACLS. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Knowledge and understanding of clinical organization structure, workflow, and operating procedures. Demonstrated knowledge of patient evaluation and triage procedures. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively work with a wide range of individuals. Ability to provide direct evaluation and consultation to patients.
