Healthcare Billing Specialist
Responsibilities: Contact delinquent customers by telephone to determine the reasons for balance or delinquency, and assist them in developing plans to bring accounts to a current status. Develop workout plans and collect on overdue accounts wherever possible. Responsible for Audit of Accounts Receivable. Adhere to all federal, state laws, regulations and policies when attempting to collect past due amounts. Effective communication with providers and billing office staff. Working knowledge of Medicare, Medi-Cal, Medi-Cal GMC, Managed Care (HMO), and PPO billing rules and procedures. Answer calls from patients and staff regarding patient account inquiries. Maintain knowledge of current coding guidelines and standards, annual updates, changes, additions, and deletions to ensure coding and billing compliance.
Requirements: Two years of collections experience in the healthcare industry including processing claim rejections and denials with Medicare, Medicaid, and Commercial Insurances. High school diploma. Home Health and/or Hospice Experience Required. Self-starter and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Excellentverbal and written communication skills. Intermediate technical and computer abilities. Working knowledge of Medicare Direct Data Entry (DDE), Ability, and Explanation of Benefits (EOB's). Detailed-oriented with strong organizational, problem solving and analytic skills. Ability to adapt to a changing working environment. Strong work ethic and capable of learning new tasks with minimal guidance. Ability to communicate professionally with agency representative and customers. Excellent quantitative, verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
