Director of Distribution Operations (Postal)
Responsibilities: Provide strong leadership and guidance to alldistribution staff and management, creating the collaborative teamwork and organizational infrastructure necessary to support company strategies and operations. Interpret operational trends, opportunities for cost savings. Developdepartment budget. Provide guidance and support for staff compliance with established company safety policies and procedures. Participate in driver meetings to discuss safety and operational issues. Identify areas of improvement and/or risk. Oversee DOT compliance and ensure that regulatory requirements are met. Understand the strategic and business needs of clients, service lines, and operational capabilities. Align with leadership, customers, vendors and external consultants to strategically plan, implement, enhance, and support business solutions.
Requirements: BA degree in Business Administration or related field of study required. Six Sigma or Lean Certification required. 10+ years of leading a large regional division (multiple locations and layers. 500+) in a logistics, distribution or transportation environment. Postal Distribution highly preferred. Demonstrated experience using "lean" methodologies for efficient operations. Experience working with owner operator drivers. Current and comprehensive terminal work environment knowledge with an in-depth understanding of terminal/driver safety and DOT regulations. Strong understanding of all aspects of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations.
