Controller with Construction Experience - Direct Hire

We are currently recruiting for a Controller to join a highly engaged team of an entrepreneurial organization. Our client is a long standing construction organization based in Rancho Cordova. This hands-on Controller role will be responsible for managing 2 employees and will proactively partner with the owners of the company to develop and drive the company's strategic business plans. Construction industry experience is required for this direct hire opportunity.

Responsibilities: Prepare monthly financial statements and provide budget comparison analysis and commentary. Job Cost Accounting - Processing of jobs cost-related data; reconciling related generalledger accounts to job costs; monthly cost reporting to project managers; job costs to trial balance; monthly reporting to management. Responsible for effectively managing and directing employees in Billing, Accounts Payable, Payroll Accounts Receivable, Collections functions. Prepare, post and reconcile WIP entries. Ensure compliance with GAAP and all applicable regulatory requirements. Define and analyze key areas of operations and provide analysis and sound advice on financial implications of operations and opportunities. Provide the management team with user-friendly analytical information. Identify emerging problems and initiate appropriate corrective action to keep the company on course toward achieving balance sheet and cash flow objectives. Build efficiencies through development of scalable processes and procedures to accommodate the Company's current and future financial situation. Assist in the evaluation of financial and strategic implications of business and organizational alternatives. Plan and oversee all finance functions to ensure a linkage of day-to-day activities toCompany's priorities.

Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, or Finance. 5+ years' experience in the construction industry is required. Hands on participation in: financial analysis, long and short-term financial forecasting and budgeting, month-end/annual close process, compliance audits, and tax return work papers. Strong understanding of working capital, work-in-process, backlog, hit rate and job close out.
