Behavioral Health Medical Assistant
Sacramento, CA | Temp-to-Hire Position
Responsibilities: First point of customer service contact for clients, families and visitors. Performs all reception, collection and updating of demographic and insurance information, eligibility verification, collection of copays, telephone reception, and message relay. Processes medication refillrequests. Takes vital signs from behaviorally disordered adults and children. Files documents in the electronic health record, maintaining confidentiality. Handles prior authorization requests and release of information. Maintains effective communication with patients.
Requirements: 1-2 years medical office experience with care of medical or psychiatric patients. High school diploma or equivalent; Medical Assistant Diploma required. Certified Medical Assistant a plus. Current BLS. Demonstrated ability to engage with patients with behavioral problems. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong phone etiquette including careful listening and ability to maintain a professional demeanor. Ability to use good judgement. Proficient computer skills and experience with EMR. Ability to clear criminal background check.
