A skilled Senior Staff Accountant is needed to maintain the general ledger, among other full cycle accounting duties, for a large, not-for-profit organization in Sacramento. This is a direct hire opportunity to join a team oriented environment and company with an extremely generous benefits package. The ideal candidate will be competentin creating financial statements, performing bank reconciliations, and month end closing for a complex, multiple entity organization.

Responsibilities: Responsible for general ledger activities, cash receipts, disbursements, reconciliations, financial statement preparation and tax reporting. Reconcile general ledger accounts with supporting schedules on a monthly basis. Journal entry preparation to include, but not limited to, depreciation, amortization, payroll, accruals, prepaid amortization, inventory relief, adjusting, correcting, year-end closing. Perform month end analytical reviews of Income Statements and Balance sheet. Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Review financial documents and materials and assists in preparing the fiscal budget; assignment of accounting codes, and various other related financial activities. Coordinate activities with auditors and releases the appropriate records and information. Prepare special projects/reports as assigned by Controller and Business Managers.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required. Minimum 5 years professional experience in Accounting, Auditing or Finance; a multiple company environment preferred. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel including familiarity with complex formulas is preferred. Proficiency with computerized general ledger systems; Great Plains experience preferred. Strong experience in month end closures required. Demonstrated experience with general ledger work through financial statement preparation required. High attention to detail and strong analytical skills. Excellent communication skills; ability to work effectively with a wide variety of individuals.
