Senior Nuclear Medicine Technologist - Direct Hire
Sacramento, California | Direct Hire Position
RESPONSIBILITIES: Explain procedures to patients and obtains proper release forms. Start IV lines and unhook patients and remove IV lines. Administer radiopharmaceuticals by performing venous injections of nuclear radioactive isotopes. This includes drawing up of medications. Preparation and hook-up for stress testing. Perform treadmill stress test; administers stress pharmaceuticals, monitors patients. Perform standard EKG procedures for patients as ordered by physicians. Observe a patient during testing for side effects. Maintain quality control on all nuclear medicine instrumentation and completion of appropriate documentation. Safely handle radioactive materials and associated documentation. Other duties as needed.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: AS in Nuclear Medicine, minimum and a completion of EKG course or one year of on-the-job training. California Department of Health Services Certified Technologist, Nuclear Medicine, NMTCB, national license, and Venipuncture certificate. Knowledge of EKG apparatus to operate and maintain equipment. Knowledge of EKG examination, diagnostic, and treatment procedures. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, drugs and medications, and their effects on patients. Knowledge of common safety hazards and safety precautions to establish and maintain a safe work environment. Abilities to understand and adhere to established policies, procedures, and protocols.
